Il portale The Old Maps Online dà accesso a importanti collezioni di mappe e carte geografiche antiche digitalizzate (>> vai all’elenco delle istituzioni partecipanti).

Il progetto è stato finanziato dal JISC dal 2011 al 2013.

 

«The OldMapsOnline Portal is an easy-to-use gateway to historical maps in libraries around the world.

It allows the user to search for online digital historical maps across numerous different collections via a geographical search. Search by typing a place-name or by clicking in the map window, and narrow by date. The search results provide a direct link to the map image on the website of the host institution.

OldMapsOnline has been created by a collaboration between The Great Britain Historical GIS Project based at The University of Portsmouth, UK and Klokan Technologies GmbH, Switzerland.

Its creation was funded by JISC».

The Archives Hub: fondi archivistici delle istituzioni di ricerca del Regno Unito

The Archives Hub è un portale che dà accesso alla descrizione di migliaia di fondi archivistici conservati presso oltre 180 istituzioni universitarie e di ricerca del Regno Unito.

The Archives Hub è un progetto finanziato dal JISC.

Dalla pagina delle FAQ:

The Archives Hub provides descriptions of archives held in UK universities and colleges and a number of research institutes and museums. It does not hold any archives but rather provides a means to cross-search descriptions of archives. In order to find out more about a collection and about access arrangements, you will need to contact the repository that holds the material. The Hub descriptions always include a link to the contact details from the repository name. Click on this link to get to the Archon entry for the repository, which provides email, telephone number, website and address details. Archon is The National Archives’ directory of archive repositories.

ticTOCs (Journal Table of Contents Service): gli indici degli ultimi numeri di migliaia di riviste scientifiche

ticTOCs Journal Tables of Contents Service è un servizio web che permette a studiosi e ricercatori di consultare gli indici (TOC = Table of Contents) e gli abstracts (quando presenti) degli articoli pubblicati sul fascicolo più recente di oltre 12.700 riviste accademiche e scientifiche di 450 diversi editori. In molti casi è possibile accedere direttamente anche al full text degli articoli, con le restrizioni relative ai contratti di abbonamento sottoscritti dalle singole istituzioni con gli editori.

ticTOCs raccoglie e visualizza i feed RSS generati dagli editori e dalle directories di riviste ad accesso aperto come DOAJ o Revues.org.

E’ possibile creare una pagina personalizzata selezionando un pacchetto di titoli di riviste delle quali si desidera seguire gli aggiornamenti nel tempo, oppure si possono esportare i feed RSS utilizzando i più comuni feedreaders in circolazione.
