MESA  <http://www.mesa-medieval.org/>

The Medieval Electronic Scholarly Alliance (MESA) is a federated international community of scholars, projects, institutions, and organizations engaged in digital scholarship within the field of medieval studies. MESA seeks

  • to provide a community for those engaged in digital medieval studies and

  • to meet emerging needs of this community, including making recommendations on technological and scholarly standards for electronic scholarship, the aggregation of data, and the ability to discover and repurpose this data.

Using the Collex interface, MESA aggregates the best scholarly resources in medieval studies and make them fully searchable and interoperable. This interface also provides a collection and authoring space in which researchers can create and publish their own work.

NINE <http://www.nines.org/>

NINES (Networked Infrastructure for Nineteenth-Century Electronic Scholarship) is a scholarly organization devoted to forging links between the material archive of the nineteenth century and the digital research environment of the twenty-first. Our activities are driven by three primary goals:

  • to serve as a peer-reviewing body for digital work in the long 19th-century (1770-1920), British and American;
  • to support scholars’ priorities and best practices in the creation of digital research materials;
  • to develop software tools for new and traditional forms of research and critical analysis.

NINES also is home to Juxta, a tool for comparing and collating multiple documentary instances of the same work; and to Ivanhoe, a collaborative game-space for interpreting textual and other cultural materials. Other interpretive tools and applications are in the planning stages.

18th CONNECT  <http://www.18thconnect.org/>

18th Connect gathers together a community of scholars that shapes the world of digital resources. Our main concerns are:

  • Access via plain-text searching for all scholars to open access and proprietary and digital archives including EEBO and ECCO, even if their institutions are unable to afford those resources;
  • Peer-review of the growing number of digital resources and archives for which 18thConnect offers an online finding aid;
  • Reflection on Best Practices with scholars who are negotiating new modes of publication and scholarly production.

18th Connect pursues three primary goals:

  1. To serve as a peer-reviewing body for digital work in the long 18th-century (1660-1820), British and American.
  2. To support scholars’ priorities and best practices in the creation of digital research materials.
  3. To develop software tools for new and traditional forms of research and critical analysis.
